Katherine Bregar, Psy.D.
Dr. Katherine Bregar earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Francisco. She completed her doctoral internship at the Mind Therapy Clinic in Marin, CA, providing individual and group psychotherapy to adults with substance abuse. Prior to her work at Manfre and Associates, she worked with children, adolescents, and young adults in schools. She has years of training in cognitive behavioral approaches, family therapy, group therapy, mental health consultation, and in psycho-diagnostic testing.
Dr. Bregar has extensive training using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches with children, teens, and adults. She specializes in working with people who struggle with developmental disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance abuse, and behavior management issues. Based on the individual needs of each patient, she is comfortable routinely using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Behavior Modification (BM), Parent Coaching, and Family Systems Therapy. Dr. Bregar uses an integrative approach to utilize a variety of interventions to meet an individual’s or a family’s needs. She is a kind, soft-spoken, thoughtful, culturally sensitive therapist who works collaboratively with each patient and family to carefully identify treatment goals and to craft individualized treatment plans. She works with each patient and family at their own pace to support them in working toward their therapeutic goals. Her goal is to empower patients to gain an understanding of their symptoms and to implement empirically supported skills to manage them as they occur in their life.
Dr. Bregar recently relocated from California to the southern Chicago suburbs– where she was born and has lived for most of her life. In her spare time, she enjoys exercise, traveling, attending concerts, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
