Counseling Services

Many people find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware, and they may pursue ongoing psychotherapy as a means of self-growth and self-actualization.

We can help guide you on your path to wellness. Your therapeutic journey starts here.

Each therapy appointment lasts for about 50-60 minutes. For adults, the first appointment is a time for you and your clinician to get to know each other; you may be asked to describe the reasons you are seeking therapy and some of the things that you hope to get out of this experience.

If you are seeking services for your child, this first appointment is a parent-only meeting, and either one, or both, parents or caregivers can attend depending on what works best for you. During this time, a thorough interview pertaining to medical history, family and social history, and current presenting concerns will be completed. Whether you are seeking Individual, Couples or Family Counseling, you and your clinician will work together in this first appointment to identify therapy goals and create a treatment plan to be sure that you are comfortable and understand the therapy process moving forward.

Insurance

Navigating the managed care system can be extremely overwhelming, and our goal is to help make this process as smooth as possible for you and your family.  When you call to schedule your first appointment with us, our administrative staff will collect your insurance information over the phone and call to verify your mental health coverage and benefits prior to your first appointment.  For some services, such as psychological testing, your plan may require you to obtain an authorization before you begin working with your clinician.  In these cases, we will prepare and submit the paperwork for you, and we will notify you when approval has been received by our office.

Many families choose to work with us even though we are not in-network with their insurance company.  If we are not contracted with your insurance, we will prepare the paperwork necessary for you to submit to your insurance company, including dates of service, diagnosis and procedure codes, and provider identification numbers necessary to process your claim.  The full fee-for-service will be due to our office at the time of your appointment.  You will take the paperwork with you after each appointment and send to your insurance company to receive reimbursement directly from them. We always encourage you to contact your insurance plan ahead of time to discuss their policy for out-of-network fees and coverage, as this is often plan-specific.

You will be asked to bring a current insurance card and driver’s license with you to your first appointment.  If we are contracted with your insurance provider, our office will file all claims for you, on your behalf, and you will be responsible for any co-payment, co-insurance or payment towards deductible at the time of service.
