Couples Counseling

We can help guide you on your path to wellness. Your therapeutic journey starts here.

People in relationships seek counseling for any number of reasons, from power struggles and communication problems to relationship dissatisfaction and dysfunctional patterns of interactions. Couples therapy helps people in close relationships to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, to understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on strengths and make useful changes in their relationships and their lives.

Successful therapy is dependent on each partner’s motivation and dedication to the process, and couples can expect to become better listeners and communicators and to find new ways to support one another. Goals will be established by you, together as a couple, under the guidance of the therapist. However, in order to achieve these objectives, each partner must be prepared to acknowledge and understand their role in the relationship. Throughout the process of couples counseling, your clinician may occasionally suggest supplemental individual sessions with each partner, with the intent of processing a particular issue separately and then returning to discuss together in a joint session.
