Maria Santiago, LCSW

Maria’s experience in the field has been for a span of 24 years. This has allowed her to have a wide range of opportunities to provide mental health services in many ways. She is bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-cultural (she is part of the Latinx community).

Maria’s experience has varied from working in community mental health, private practice, substance abuse clinics to being the clinical director of a school for teens with mental health differences. She also has worked with survivors of trauma (physical, sexual, emotional and interpersonal) as well as chronic mental health issues. She has worked from a trauma-informed care perspective that includes a pragmatic approach to continual improvement of her clients’ mental health.

The majority of her clients are first time clients to therapy and have or are experiencing a mental health urgency or emergency. She strives to help her clients navigate the difficult times and move on to thriving in their lives as they begin to learn strategies to living a better life.  Understanding that everyone that comes to therapy is looking for change is the approach that she takes when initiating services with clients.

Maria’s big picture approach is that best care and best practice start with the relationships that are built in therapy.
