David Gianos
Hello! My name is David Gianos, and I am a graduate-level social work student at Aurora University. I grew up in Naperville, Illinois, where much of my childhood was spent on soccer fields, basketball courts, and just about any sport I could join. I completed my undergraduate degree at Creighton University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business with a focus on human resources, and later went on to pursue a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska Omaha. These experiences shaped my interest in human behavior, organizational systems, and the factors that contribute to individual well-being.
Throughout my time at Aurora University, I have had the opportunity to work with and study a variety of populations. My first internship at the Downers Grove Public Library allowed me to provide crisis support and resource referrals on a wide range of cases, from housing insecurity to mental health concerns. Academically, much of my research has focused on the impact of social isolation across the lifespan and the strategies that help individuals rebuild connection, resilience, and community. During my internship at JEM, I hope to deepen my understanding of the clinical side of social work—particularly assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic engagement.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy playing golf, watching basketball, and spending time outdoors on walks or hikes. I’m also a proud Chicago Bears fan, something that has finally become enjoyable again this year. The Bears are back! I look forward to learning from the team, contributing to the work being done, and growing both personally and professionally throughout this internship experience.
